Christmas Countdown Bonus: Out of the Blue Sings 'Merry Christmas Everybody'

The Christmas Countdown has been highlighting LGBTQ artists, but I have no information about whether any members of the group, Out of the Blue, fits that bill. Judging from their videos though, they are very open-minded; they don't seem to mind being flirty with the boys. Since there are 13 current members, odds are at least one isn't 100 percent heterosexual (not that there is anything wrong with that), so we are including them. We are very inclusive.

Out of the Blue is an all-male a cappella group from the University of Oxford and Oxford Brookes University in Oxford, England. The student-run group sings an eclectic mix of songs, focusing on covers of modern rock and pop hits.

Since its foundation in 2000, Out of the Blue has had success both nationally and internationally. The group frequently performs at both private and public functions in Oxford and the surrounding area, has toured the UK, Ireland, the United States, and Scandinavia, and has received critical acclaim for their performances at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

The group has won numerous competitions of their category of music and, to date, has produced 13 studio albums, three live albums and one compilation album. They came to international attention among pop music fans when they were the subject of a tweet by the noted musician Shakira, who complimented them for the cover they did of one of her songs in support of a charity which they support.

In addition to other organizations, the group has most recently raised money for the Oxford-based charity, Helen & Douglas House. It is a hospice that provides respite care for children and young adults with life-limiting conditions, and support for their families.

Great fun! All marvellous but if I had to vote for one it would be the first.
On all of them could have done with a fraction less of the frenetic editing as I'd have preferred to have dwelt a little longer on certain of the singers.

I didn't know of this group, though I should have as I lived in Oxford 1975-88 and still hope to return to spend my remaining time there. Alas, no luck so far at finding affordable accommodation, but it remains my fervent dream for 2018.
