16 LGBTQ People Tell Their 'Coming Out Stories' -- Jesse Tyler Ferguson's Story Involves Stealing Gay Porn

PEOPLE Magazine reports:

Like many a plot twist on his show Modern Family, Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s real-life coming out story is equal parts embarrassing and hilarious.

The actor, 42, remembers that as a freshman in high school, he got caught by security at a bookstore in his hometown of Albuquerque, N.M. attempting to shoplift gay porn.

In Coming Out Stories, a new video series from PEOPLE and Entertainment Weekly, 16 LGBTQ people [including Ferguson] from all walks of life share how they opened up to friends, family and the world — and how their lives changed.

Others sharing their stories include Olympian Gus Kensworthy, Actor Charlie Carver, Grey’s Anatomy actress Sara Ramirez, retired NBA player Jason Collins and social media star Tyler Oakley.

PEOPLE and EW partnered with GLSEN, a nonprofit that fights to make schools safe for all kids, to create Coming Out Stories. See all the hilarious and heartbreaking tales at people.com/comingoutstories.
